This period property set amongst verdant green fields in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside shows off a perfectly balanced juxtaposition of old and new. We were able to showcase the clean lines and sleek designs of some of our top brands in an unusual and unique space.
Boxtree Cottage, East Keswick
What made you decide to start this project?
We bought our house seven years ago and the whole house needed updating. The last time the house had been decorated must have been around the 1980s by the previous owners. We tackled it in three phases and this bathroom formed part of the final phase created from what had been three storage rooms.
Where did you draw your inspiration from?
From interior design magazines generally and I particularly liked the designs of Cecilie Manz line for Duravit, the Luv. I had seen the range and knew that that was the look I wanted to achieve. The design is paired back but not clinical.
What was the most challenging part of the process?
“We were under some constraints with the shape of the room and in particular the low ceiling. We considered having a shower above the bath and ultimately decided to just go for the bath because it would have been too difficult to install with the eaves.”
What is your favourite element of your bathroom?
The bath. Not only does it look nice but it is so comfortable too. My husband spends more time in it than me! He has a bath nearly every day having previously only taken showers.
How did you find the process from start to finish?
We’d used Morland Bathrooms before for our two other bathroom renovations. Our architect had recommended them back in 2013 when they were drawing up the original plans.Since then, we have recommended Morland Bathrooms to a number of our friends. We are highly satisfied with the service, everything from the drawing and design to the supply and delivery. The ongoing support has been excellent, particularly from Tim. Any time we needed anything, he was so helpful. Really great customer service.
How does the end result make you feel?
It’s my sanctuary. The velux windows are aligned over bath and vanity unit. The bath is also aligned with the adjacent bedroom windows which gives incredible views to the hills. There is a calming sense of balance.
A word from our designer…
Our customer drove this project forward with a clear goal in mind. It was a real pleasure to help her realise her vision and see the final result of this stunning bathroom.
