This customer came to us on recommendation from AMC Design in Ilkley. The customer had an idea of the look she was going for, but needed help choosing product and defining the overall design and feel. The finish job is such a transformation. “The whole process was so positive and I am so glad I went with Morlands rather than what I was considering before, which was trying to put the items together myself! What made you decide to start this project?

I moved into my house about four years ago – it’s a 1960s house and the bathrooms were probably last replaced in the 1980s so definitely needed some love! The main bathroom upstairs only had a bath and no shower, and with two children (one teenager) I knew I needed to rectify this. There was a shower room downstairs so we had got used to going down there to shower, but the cubicle was tiny and everything looked grubby and out of date. Think beige tiles and grab rails! Initially I was going to renovate the main bathroom and wait to do the shower room, but it made sense to get the work done at the same time and I’m really glad I did.

Where did you draw your inspiration from?

My inspiration came from pictures I had saved from Instagram and Pinterest, in particular the Bert and May green ‘split shift’ tile which I ended up using on the main bathroom floor. I tend to save a lot of images into a folder then go through and pick different elements that I like to make the finished product. Charlotte really helped me with this, and by showing her the ideas I liked she was able to help show me which products would give a similar look. I love a Scandi style with clean lines and not too matchy-matchy, and also tend to know what I don’t like more than what I definitely do, so it did help a lot to have someone to talk ideas through with.

What was the most challenging part of the process?

I’ve had a lot of renovations done in my home over the years and know there will always be issues which come up. In this case there was an issue with the upstairs toilet which meant the flush was sticking and water would constantly run through. This was frustrating as it wasn’t clear where the problem was coming from, but Morlands were really helpful in trying to resolve the issue with the supplier and after replacing all the parts of the flush, I think it’s finally sorted now.

What do you love most about your bathrooms?

There is so much to love! I adore the green floor tiles and the oak-effect vanity upstairs. I have wall lights either side of the mirror too, which give a beautiful soft light and make bathtime feel so much more luxurious than before. Downstairs, the shower enclosure is so much more roomy and the colours I chose (pale blue on the walls and white marbled on the floor) are so relaxing and fresh. Everything just looks so much cleaner and modern, and much easier to keep clean and tidy.

How did you find the process from start to finish?

I found working with Charlotte at Morlands a real pleasure and loved visiting the showroom to talk through ideas and look at designs. She is a great communicator and was always very responsive to my requests, and patient when I changed my mind! I used their recommended installers, Mick and Nathan, and they were such great guys to have in my home, really good company, clean and tidy, and did an excellent job. They were able to give me an exact date when they could start and finish, and a full quote, which I have found not to be the case with many trades. The whole process was so positive and I am so glad I went with Morlands rather than what I was considering before, which was trying to put the items together myself! I would definitely recommend.

How does your finished bathroom make you feel?

I love my bathrooms and they are such a great space to get ready each in each morning. There is nothing about the design which I don’t like, the products all look great and I get so many compliments from friends who visit my home.

How does the end result make you feel?

The finished bathroom is an absolute joy. Even though we have an en-suite downstairs, I find myself making excuses to use the new bathroom upstairs, generally just to admire the new space. We love it!
